1013

When I was in middle school my obsession with the X-Files really took off. For evidence, I’d like to turn your attention to the photograph below from my diary (yes! the much-promised diary posts have returned!) where you’ll notice a picture of David Duchovny I folded up and placed inside the journal. It’s worth pointing out that there’s also an address listed next to that dashing photo, a place to direct all your fan mail inquiries. I am proud to say I never wrote any fan mail (shocking, huh?) although I did write a treatment for an X-Files episode where I would have a guest starring role as the precocious and clever young girl helping Mulder and Scully save the day. Or something.

Anyway, the post I really wish I had a photo of (and I don’t have the diary with me so I can’t just snap one now) is from October 13, 1998. See, in the world of weird X-Files fans, and a lot of TV junkies, 1013 carries a LOT of meaning. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, it’s not really worth me explaining to you (if you want someone else to explain, click here), all you need to know is that I was really freakishly obsessed with that show, and the fact that today is 10/13 reminded me of this.

Okay. That diary entry I am referencing said something like this (I swear to God, although I refuse to post it):

"OMG OMG OMG HAPPY 1013 DAY! IT'S CHRIS CARTER'S BIRTHDAY! CREATOR OF THE BEST SHOW EVER! I LOVE MULDER AND SCULLY! TRUST NO ONE! THE TRUTH IS OUT THERE! I LOVE THE X-FILES! I AM AN X-PHILE!"

Please feel free to point and laugh at me, I certainly do.

Now excuse me while I hang my head in my hands and cry about my tragic youth as a closeted nerd. Then I'm going to write in my diary about it.
